AICPA seeks a Senior Director of Governmental Auditing and Accounting to lead initiatives related to governmental accounting and auditing standards. This fully remote position involves strategy development, advocacy, and technical support for a diverse range of stakeholders, aiming to enhance auditing quality for AICPA members. Candidates should have significant experience and a CPA to effectively represent the organization in various forums.

In this fully remote role You will lead all AICPA programs related to governmental accounting and auditing, including the activities of the Governmental Audit Quality Center (GAQC), developing governmental accounting and auditing guidance, monitoring and commenting on relevant legislation and regulation, promoting and managing relationships with important federal and state agencies and standard-setting bodies. You will also influence regulation, governmental accounting and auditing standards, representing the AICPA before regulators, members and other partners, and communicating issues to members. You will report to the Vice President - Financial Reporting & Accounting.
You Will:
Develop the strategy, governance, member value delivery, and administrative responsibilities of GAQC such that it meets its defined goals and fiscal budget.
Cultivate relationships and advocate public interest and profession positions with the following: Governmental accounting and auditing standard-setters, main federal and state agencies, multiple state auditor offices, other industry organizations.
Co-lead (with volunteer Chair) the GAQC executive committee and the State and Local Governmental Expert Panel and oversee the development of related AICPA positions, testimony, and comment letters to regulators and standard setters
Support other AICPA teams by providing technical expertise to promote governmental audit quality in all aspects of AICPA offerings.
Communicate with AICPA members, regulators, and other partner groups (including state societies) the AICPA's efforts in the area of governmental auditing and accounting
Manage team of CPA professionals to include monitoring and assigning work and mentoring.
Represent the AICPA by speaking at web events, conferences, state societies, accounting firms and others on governmental accounting and auditing issues.
You Have:
Bachelor's degree in accounting
Certified Public Accountant
10+ years in public accounting or comparable experience
Experience in state and local government accounting and auditing, compliance auditing, Government Auditing Standards

The Salary Range for this role is: $185,000 - $227,000 per year. There is no non-wage compensation.
