Harvard University is seeking a Senior Director of IT Strategy and Project Management in Cambridge, MA. This role involves driving strategic objectives for IT across multiple administrative units, ensuring alignment with university goals and providing insights to senior leadership.

The Senior Director of IT Strategy and Project Management reports directly to the Managing Director of Administrative IT and drives impactful outcomes for 25,000 students, 1,800 faculty and instructional staff, and 500 administrative staff. The Senior Director aligns decision support, strategy, vision, and project planning across the four Administrative IT units (ERP Systems, Platform Solutions, Infrastructure, and Project and Product Management).
The Senior Director partners strategically with the AIT Managing Director, providing insights and decision‑making support to advance organizational objectives. Acting as an advisor, the Senior Director offers a wide range of inputs on strategic and tactical matters, coordinates to integrate and unify AIT workstreams, connects teams, and facilitates communication between leadership and the organization. They evaluate departmental metrics to gauge effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
This position will be based in Cambridge, MA. The hybrid workplace model requires a minimum of two days per week on campus. The DCE or department may adjust these as necessary or appropriate.
The position has been determined by school or unit leaders that some duties can be effectively performed at a non‑Harvard location. The work schedule and location will be set by the department at its discretion and based on operational needs. When not working at a Harvard or Harvard‑designated location, employees in hybrid positions must work in a Harvard registered state in compliance with the University’s Policy on Employment Outside of Massachusetts. Additional details will be discussed during the interview process. Certain visa types and funding sources may limit work location. Individuals must meet work location sponsorship requirements prior to employment.
