Job summary

Vertex Inc. is seeking an Associate Director, External Innovation to advance evaluation of external opportunities and collaborations across biopharma. You will analyze scientific, clinical, and commercial aspects, monitor landscape shifts, and inform strategic decisions with cross-functional teams.

You will engage with R&D, Regulatory, Manufacturing, and other functions to drive program strategy and governance, while supporting communications and knowledge sharing across the organization.

Qualifications

• Broad-based scientific training across drug discovery, development and commercialization.
• Understanding economic, commercial and financial factors driving value creation.
• Ability to synthesize diverse data into actionable insights.
• Ability to deliver audience-tailored slide decks for senior management.

Responsibilities

• Conduct landscape analysis and track opportunities for evaluations.
• Prepare evaluation summaries to inform decisions across pharma/biotech.
• Participate on evaluation teams and coordinate cross-functional inputs.
• Maintain relationships with transaction and alliance management teams.
• Engage with science/clinical subject matter experts across functions.
• Coordinate governance meetings and cross-departmental communication.
• Utilize tools to enhance scientific insights and knowledge management.
