About the Position:
The Head of US Market Access (Senior/Executive Director) is responsible for building, leading and executing the entire market access strategy for Edgewise Therapeutics. This position is accountable for the comprehensive US market access strategy inclusive of product launch plans, pricing, reimbursement, and payer interactions.
This senior leader will bring their extensive market access experience to our first product launch (pending regulatory approval) and will be responsible for developing the US market access strategy and execution, with an initial focus on launch readiness and commercialization of our lead asset, sevasemten. This position is a member of the commercial leadership team and reports to the U.S. General Manager.
Essential Job Duties and Functions:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive market access strategy, including pricing, reimbursement, and payer engagement, to support the launch and lifecycle management of Edgewise product(s)
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to leverage and implement reimbursement, managed care, payer, and healthcare policies that ensure attainment of business objectives
- Develop pricing strategies consistent with customer and market indications, as well as US public policy, and the overall portfolio targeting long-term commercial success
- Design and drive Edgewise’s development of market access capabilities within the US, including payer account management and outreach and pricing and contracting (as needed) for optimal reimbursement and robust market penetration
- Work closely with Medical Affairs and HEOR team members to ensure the creation of a clinical value proposition for Edgewise’s products incorporating differentiating and compelling product data to optimize product value
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including trade and distribution, patient services, R&D, finance, marketing, sales, and legal to align market access strategies with business objectives
- Bring an understanding of the payer perspective to product teams to ensure that payer requirements are adequately met throughout the evidence development and commercial strategy development processes in a timely and accurate fashion
- Provide guidance to the Edgewise executive team on market access strategies and tactics
- Attract, hire and lead the market access field-based team responsible for engaging the spectrum of key reimbursement stakeholders in the US, including payer accounts to optimize patient access Oversee patient affordability programs to ensure patients have access to Edgewise’s products and support services
- Develop and manage departmental budget ensuring efficient allocation of resources to achieve strategic objectives
- Ensure compliance with corporate policies and procedures, US healthcare laws and regulations
Required Education, Experience and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree required; MBA, PharmD, or advanced degree preferred
- 10-15 years of experience in market access, pricing, reimbursement, or related roles within the biotech or pharmaceutical industry, with at least 7 years in a leadership position
- Extensive knowledge of U.S. market access and policy environment, including payer systems, pricing strategies, and reimbursement processes
- Leadership experience with a demonstrated ability to manage and develop high-performing teams
- Proven track record of developing and executing on successful market access strategies, pricing and reimbursement and payer initiatives; experience launching an oral rare disease product highly preferred
- Demonstrated established relationships with payers (commercial/government), distribution and trade (3PL, wholesale, specialty pharmacy), physician networks, and healthcare systems
- Deep understanding of the healthcare landscape, including payer regulations, reimbursement mechanisms, and market dynamics
- Proven experience in negotiating payer contracts and securing favorable reimbursement rates
- Ability to positively position a small biotechnology company in a rare disease therapeutic area to achieve a positive image
- Possesses a good blend of strategic and operational experience with the ability to see the big picture and strong attention to detail
- Possesses strong executive presence, excellent communication (written and oral), and negotiation skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment - flexible, adaptable, diplomatic, and able to effectively deal with ambiguity
- Remote position with travel required based on business needs
Salary range: $200,000-$300,000, title and salary commensurate with experience
