This individual will play a key role in expanding pharmaceutical and life sciences partnerships across accredited CME/CE and independent medical education initiatives. The organization is seeking a proven business development professional who can leverage existing industry relationships, identify new opportunities, and drive revenue growth while partnering closely with educational strategy and scientific teams to deliver high-impact learning solutions.

The organization operates across a broad portfolio of therapeutic areas, including oncology, cardiovascular and cardio-renal-metabolic medicine, neuroscience, psychiatry, dermatology, gastroenterology, rheumatology, infectious disease, rare disease, women's health, and other complex therapeutic areas. Their platform combines accredited education, interprofessional learning, digital and live programming, innovative learning formats, and outcomes-driven solutions.

This is an opportunity to sell a broad, differentiated education portfolio backed by experienced strategists, scientific leaders, medical experts, and operational teams. The successful candidate will be positioned to make an immediate impact while helping shape the future growth of the business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a strategic business development plan to drive new revenue opportunities across accredited CME/CE and independent medical education.
  • Build, maintain, and expand relationships with pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, and diagnostic supporters.
  • Leverage existing industry relationships while cultivating new connections across Medical Affairs, Educational Grants, IME, Commercial, and Clinical Strategy stakeholders.
  • Identify educational needs, funding priorities, grant opportunities, and RFPs across target accounts.
  • Partner with educational strategy, scientific, outcomes, and program teams to create competitive, outcomes-focused educational solutions.
  • Lead supporter meetings, discovery discussions, capability presentations, and proposal strategy conversations.
  • Drive both new business acquisition and strategic account growth initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate pipeline forecasting, account planning, and revenue projections.
  • Track and report key commercial metrics, including supporter meetings, proposal activity, win rates, account growth, and revenue performance.
  • Represent the organization at major medical congresses, industry meetings, and supporter engagement events.
  • Serve as a trusted partner to clients while identifying opportunities to expand programs across therapeutic areas, audiences, and educational channels.

Key Qualifications:

  • 3-8+ years of business development, supporter relations, grant strategy, account management, educational strategy, or related commercial experience within healthcare.
  • Direct experience within CME/CE, independent medical education, medical education, or a closely related healthcare communications environment.
  • Established relationships with pharmaceutical or biotechnology stakeholders involved in educational grants, medical affairs, independent medical education, or scientific engagement.
  • Demonstrated track record of revenue generation and business development success, ideally managing or generating $1M+ annually.
  • Experience developing business with large pharmaceutical organizations is strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of educational grants, RFP processes, needs assessments, gap analyses, accreditation requirements, outcomes measurement, and compliant supporter engagement.
  • Ability to communicate credibly with both scientific and commercial stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to prospect, develop opportunities, navigate complex sales cycles, and close business.
  • Strong understanding of commercial performance metrics, including revenue generation, win rates, average deal size, account growth, and pipeline management.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a high degree of accountability, initiative, and business ownership.
  • Self-motivated, collaborative, team-oriented professional with strong presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
