Job summary

Scorpion Therapeutics seeks a senior Program Manager to lead strategic program efforts across cross-functional teams in our NJ site. You will build and mentor a PM team, drive end-to-end development planning, and provide operational leadership for multiple programs with a lifecycle focus from preclinical to later stages.

The role emphasizes talent development, process improvement, and collaboration with portfolio management to align timelines and budgets with company goals.

Job description

Role Responsibilities
  • Lead program strategy while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • Identify and develop a team of program managers (through associate-director ready talent).
  • Provide operational leadership, direction, and support to small and/or low to medium complexity development programs.
  • Recruit, hire, build, and lead a team of early-career program managers.
  • Advance talent and develop/enhance PM capabilities, processes, and initiatives.
  • Assess direct report development needs; ensure actionable development plans with ongoing coaching and feedback.
  • Establish and maintain training and development curriculum aligned to department goals and career ladder.
  • Build project allocation model/process to support pipeline and development.
  • Collaborate with portfolio management on longer-range resourcing needs and plans.
  • Partner with the Global Program Head to drive Strategic Program Teams; manage and execute preclinical through late development and life cycle management.
  • Develop and ensure delivery of integrated plans (timelines and budgets) aligned to company goals.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and implement best practices; share lessons learned.
Qualifications/Required Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred.
  • 15+ years’ relevant broad project/program management experience (preferably pharmaceutical/related).
  • Extensive Pharma R&D project management experience; deep end-to-end drug development process knowledge; proven ability to deliver results.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills; ability to interact effectively across internal/external levels.
  • Strong presentation and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to promote constructive interactions, and resolve/negotiates conflicts with tact and composure.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills; ability to handle multiple priorities.
