Job summary

Bankwell is seeking a Director of Credit Underwriting to oversee the daily operations of the Credit Underwriting department and ensure consistent application of the Bank's Loan Policy. You will lead a team of seven, drive underwriting standards, and coordinate with risk management and SBA teams to maintain credit quality.

The role requires extensive commercial credit experience, leadership capabilities, and a strong ethics posture.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10+ years' experience in commercial credit at a bank or lending institution.
• Minimum of 7 years of direct team leadership experience.
• Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting; related Master's preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead the credit underwriting function to ensure timely, accurate loan analyses.
• Manage a 7-person underwriting team including staffing, training, and performance.
• Ensure compliance with loan policy and regulatory requirements; interface with risk management teams.
