Job summary

Oscar in New York City is seeking a Senior Director of Corporate Development to lead inorganic growth through M&A, investments, divestitures and strategic partnerships. You will translate enterprise priorities into market landscapes, target universes, and a prioritized deal pipeline, while overseeing financial modeling, due diligence, negotiation, and integration planning.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 12+ years of progressive experience in analytical financial roles, with significant leadership responsibilities.
  • 10+ years of demonstrated ability using expert financial modeling skills to translate complex data into actionable insights, robust strategies, and financial plans, particularly in a corporate development context.
  • 8+ years of significant corporate development experience, including direct involvement in M&A financial modeling, valuation, and negotiation.
  • 7+ years of experience collaborating, influencing, and presenting at the executive level, including interaction with C-suite and Board members.

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end corporate development across M&A, investments, divestitures, and partnerships.
  • Define integration plans, synergy targets, post-close KPIs, and governance for transactions.
  • Develop thesis-driven sourcing strategies translating priorities into market landscapes and deal pipelines.
  • Lead enterprise-wide financial and capital modeling to inform growth initiatives and capital allocation.
  • Provide evaluations of strategic growth initiatives and due diligence with Corporate Strategy.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job description

About the role:

The Senior Director of Corporate Development is a senior finance and strategy leader responsible for advancing Oscar’s inorganic growth agenda through thesis-driven market mapping, target sourcing, strategic partnerships, investments, divestitures, and M&A. This role translates enterprise priorities into actionable market landscapes, target universes, build/buy/partner recommendations, and a prioritized pipeline of opportunities, while leading rigorous financial analysis, valuation, due diligence, approval materials, and transaction execution from initial evaluation through closing and integration planning.

You will report into the SVP, Deputy CFO.

Work Location:

This position is based in our New York City office, requiring a hybrid work schedule with 3 days of in-office work per week. Thursdays are a required in-office day for team meetings and events, while your other two office days are flexible to suit your schedule. #LI-Hybrid

Pay Transparency:

The base pay for this role is: $218,592 - $286,902 per year.

Responsibilities:
  • Deal Execution: Lead end-to-end corporate development execution across M&A, investments, divestitures, and strategic partnerships, including target sourcing, market mapping, valuation, financial modeling, diligence, negotiation, approval materials, closing, and integration planning.
  • Integration: Partner with operators to define integration plans, synergy/value-capture targets, post-close KPIs, and governance to ensure transactions deliver against strategic and financial objectives.
  • Market mapping: Develop and manage a thesis-driven sourcing strategy that translates enterprise priorities into market landscapes, target universes, build/buy/partner recommendations, and a prioritized pipeline of actionable M&A, investment, and strategic partnership opportunities.
  • Advanced Financial and Capital Modeling: Lead sophisticated, long-term, enterprise-wide financial and capital modeling efforts to inform and influence strategic decisions related to future growth initiatives and capital allocation.
  • Strategic Initiative Evaluation & Due Diligence: Provide comprehensive quantitative and qualitative evaluations of strategic growth initiatives, including new market entries and business lines, in close partnership with the Corporate Strategy team.
  • Compliance with all applicable laws and regulations

Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 12+ years of progressive experience in analytical financial roles, with significant leadership responsibilities.
  • 10+ years of demonstrated ability using expert financial modeling skills to effectively translate complex data into actionable insights, robust strategies, and comprehensive financial plans, particularly in a corporate development context.
  • 8+ years of significant corporate development experience, including direct involvement in M&A financial modeling, valuation, and negotiation.
  • 7+ years of experience collaborating, influencing, and presenting at the executive level, including direct interaction with C-suite and Board members.
Bonus points:
  • Experience in similar roles in strategy consulting, financial services, or insurance industries (ex: private equity, venture capital, investment banking)
  • Strong preference for healthcare industry experience and deep market knowledge.
  • Advanced degrees or professional designations, such as an MBA or CFA.

Pay Transparency: Final offer amounts:

Final offer amounts, within the base pay set forth above, are determined by factors including your relevant skills, education, and experience.
