Job summary

NOW CFO is expanding its Newport Beach team and seeks a Senior Director Consultant to serve as a trusted finance leader for clients. You will partner with executive leadership, lead client engagements end-to-end, and bring enterprise-level finance thinking to growing businesses.

You'll oversee financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and strategic initiatives, while mentoring accounting teams and supporting M&A and due diligence as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
• 10+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience, including director-level responsibilities.
• Strong GAAP knowledge and technical accounting depth.
• Experience leading budgeting, forecasting, and strategic finance initiatives.
• Proven leadership of teams and multi-client engagements.
• CPA preferred, not required.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary finance leader on client engagements, often working with CEOs, CFOs, and ownership.
• Oversee financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and strategic finance initiatives.
• Lead month-end and year-end close processes with GAAP-compliant reporting.
• Build and maintain budgets, rolling forecasts, and cash flow models.
• Deliver executive dashboards, variance analysis, and strategic insights.
• Lead ERP implementations, system cleanups, and process improvements.
• Mentor client accounting teams and strengthen internal controls.
• Support M&A, due diligence, and audit prep as needed.

Compensation: $150,000 to $175,000 annually

Our Consultants are full-time W-2 employees. You’ll work with a variety of clients across industries, get exposure to different systems and business models, and never get stuck in the routine of a single seat.

What You’ll Do

• Serve as the primary finance leader on client engagements, often working directly with CEOs, CFOs, and ownership
• Oversee financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and strategic finance initiatives
• Lead month-end and year-end close processes and ensure GAAP compliant financial reporting
• Build and maintain budgets, rolling forecasts, and cash flow models
• Deliver executive-level dashboards, variance analysis, and strategic insights
• Lead ERP implementations, system cleanups, and process improvement initiatives
• Mentor client accounting teams and strengthen internal controls
• Support M&A, due diligence, audit prep, and other high-impact strategic projects as needed

What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• 10+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience, including Director or Senior Director level responsibilities
• Strong GAAP knowledge and technical accounting depth
• Deep budgeting, forecasting, and strategic finance experience
• Prior leadership and team management experience
• Multi-industry exposure strongly preferred
• CPA preferred, not required
• Excellent communication skills and executive presence
• Comfortable working independently and managing multiple client engagements simultaneously
• Willingness to commute to different client sites in the Orange County / Newport Beach area

Preferred

• Prior consulting or interim CFO experience
• ERP implementation experience (NetSuite, Sage Intacct, Microsoft Dynamics, SAP, Oracle)
• Experience with private equity backed, high growth, or multi-entity businesses
• BI tool fluency (Power BI, Tableau)
