BMO Capital Markets is seeking a Director/Managing Director, Business Control Assurance to lead the independent first-line control assurance function within Governance and Controls of the Capital Markets Office. The role shapes the assurance agenda, tests control design and operating effectiveness, and engages with senior executives across capital markets.

You will set strategy, define scope, and govern methodology, ensuring testing independence and timely remediation.

Responsibilities

• Set the Capital Markets first-line assurance strategy and target operating model across business units, regulatory, technology and data controls.
• Define the scope and coverage of the function, including non-financial risk controls and testing criteria.
• Establish safeguards that separate assurance execution from control ownership and remediation delivery.
• Approve Capital Markets procedures, quality standards and escalation guidance within enterprise requirements.
• Lead relationships with Accountable Executives, first-line control owners, second-line risk, Internal Audit and regulators.
