We are seeking a strategic, business-focused Senior Director of Business Applications to lead the enterprise application ecosystem supporting Commercial, Medical, Marketing, and field-based operations within a regulated life sciences environment.

This leader will define and govern the business applications strategy, architecture, and roadmap; manage application demand, portfolio priorities, and lifecycle management; and ensure technology investments deliver measurable business value. The role will oversee the implementation, integration, adoption, support, and continuous improvement of business-critical platforms, with a primary focus on the Veeva Commercial Cloud and Veeva Data Cloud ecosystems.

The ideal candidate is a transformational technology leader with deep expertise in Commercial and field-enabling technologies, solution architecture, business analysis, process optimization, stakeholder engagement, service management, vendor governance, and organizational change within a regulated life sciences environment.

This individual will also bring demonstrated launch-readiness experience, including the technology, data, process, and field-force enablement required to support new product and indication launches within a specialty pharmaceutical environment.

Key Responsibilities
Strategy, Architecture & Governance
  • Define and maintain the roadmap, solution architecture, technology standards, and governance model for Commercial, Medical, Marketing, and field-based business applications, ensuring alignment with business objectives, compliance requirements, and scalability needs.
  • Establish architecture governance, risk management practices, and application standards to ensure solutions are secure, compliant, supportable, scalable, and cost-effective.
  • Partner with business and technology leadership to translate strategic priorities into actionable technology roadmaps and investment plans.
Product, Portfolio & Demand Management
  • Lead demand intake, prioritization, portfolio planning, and governance for Commercial, Medical, Marketing, and field-based applications, balancing business value, regulatory requirements, resource capacity, dependencies, and budget.
  • Oversee the full lifecycle of business-critical applications, from strategy and selection through implementation, optimization, support, and retirement.
  • Establish clear portfolio management practices and decision-making frameworks to ensure resources are focused on the highest-value business priorities.
Business Relationship Management, Adoption & Value Realization
  • Serve as the senior relationship leader between IT and Commercial, Medical, and Marketing stakeholders, ensuring application strategies, priorities, and services remain aligned with business needs.
  • Build trusted partnerships with senior business leaders and functional teams to understand priorities, identify opportunities, and proactively address technology needs.
  • Drive stakeholder engagement, adoption, utilization, and value realization through effective communication, training alignment, change enablement, and outcome-based success measures.
Business Analysis & Process Excellence
  • Lead requirements definition, solution design, business process analysis, and optimization initiatives to improve operational efficiency, data quality, compliance, and the end-user experience.
  • Establish processes and structures that leverage insights, metrics, and continuous improvement practices to evaluate application performance, identify automation opportunities, and prioritize enhancements.
  • Promote standardized, scalable processes while balancing the unique needs of Commercial, Medical, Marketing, and field organizations.
Solution Development, Integration & Release Delivery
  • Oversee solution development, platform configuration, integrations, data flows, and configuration management across enterprise applications and related technologies.
  • Direct cross-functional project execution, governance, stakeholder alignment, testing, release management, and vendor coordination.
  • Ensure implementations and enhancements are delivered with appropriate quality, compliance, documentation, timeline, and budget controls.
  • Establish scalable integration and release practices that support evolving business needs and future growth.
Change Management, Training & Adoption Readiness
  • Lead change management, training enablement, communication planning, knowledge transfer, and operational readiness for major application implementations and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure business users are prepared to adopt new technologies, processes, and ways of working through effective enablement and post-go-live support.
  • Partner with business leaders and functional teams to establish clear adoption measures and identify opportunities to improve utilization and user experience.
Application Operations & Service Management
  • Establish and mature a Service Management framework, including clearly defined business processes, ownership models, KPIs, service-level metrics, continuous improvement strategies, and supporting initiatives.
  • Establish and manage application support, incident and issue resolution, service governance, access management, knowledge management, and operational performance practices.
  • Ensure applications meet applicable GxP, data integrity, privacy, cybersecurity, and regulatory requirements while maintaining reliable service levels for business users.
  • Monitor application health, service performance, and user experience, proactively identifying risks and opportunities for improvement.
