The Senior Director for Science Policy and Regulatory Counsel leads the science policy activities, directs the policy team, and serves as a primary expert on biomedical research oversight for federal and internal audiences.

Qualifications

  • Graduate degree required; 12+ years of related work experience with supervisory experience.
  • Deep understanding of biomedical research policy and regulation.
  • Experience advising executives and representing the organization before government and professional audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Policy Analysis: Review and analyze proposed and existing research regulations affecting member institutions.
  • Advise on compliance and draft AAMC comment letters on research regulation.
  • Represent AAMC on biomedical research oversight and related legal issues.
  • Develop a national network of policymakers and researchers for policy engagement.
  • Lead the Science Policy and Regulatory Team and set strategic priorities.
  • Mentor team members and manage budgets and external relationships.
  • Act as primary expert and public spokesperson on federal oversight of biomedical research.
