Job summary

The Association of American Medical Colleges seeks a Government Relations Manager to lead federal advocacy priorities and coalition initiatives. You will analyze legislation, develop advocacy strategies, and represent the AAMC before Congress, federal agencies, and coalitions.

You will coordinate with policy, communications, and research teams, and guide cross‑functional efforts to advance the association’s priorities in public policy, medical research, and higher education.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required with 8+ years in federal government relations or related fields.
• Subject matter expert in federal legislative/regulatory processes, advocacy strategy, coalition engagement, and policy analysis.
• Experience leading major advocacy initiatives, coalitions, programs, or cross‑functional projects.
• Experience with federal budget/appropriations, medical research, public health, health care, higher education policy, or related policy issues.

Responsibilities

• Lead advocacy planning and implementation for priority initiatives and coalitions.
• Serve as subject‑matter expert on legislative/regulatory issues and provide strategic recommendations to leadership.
• Develop relationships with Congress, federal agencies, and advocacy partners to advance priorities.
• Draft and disseminate policy materials, organize briefings, and coordinate with policy, communications, and research teams.
• Lead and participate in coalition management and cross‑functional collaboration across the organization.
