Job summary

Protara Therapeutics, Inc. seeks a Senior Director, Assistant General Counsel to partner with R&D, Clinical Development, Regulatory, Medical Affairs and Commercial teams in a fast-paced biotech environment.

You will provide strategic legal counsel on FDA and global regulatory matters, clinical development agreements, and corporate transactions, while ensuring compliance and data privacy. The incumbent must be able to come into the NYC office once a week.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school; active state bar.
• 12+ years of legal experience in biotech/pharma.
• Experience supporting oncology, rare disease, or specialty programs.
• Strong knowledge of FDA regulatory frameworks and pharma commercialization.
• Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills.
• In-house biotech/pharma experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Advise R&D, Clinical Development, Regulatory, Commercial and other stakeholders on legal matters.
• Draft and negotiate clinical, collaboration, and commercial agreements.
• Provide regulatory and product counsel across FDA and global frameworks.
• Support pricing, market access, and promotional review compliance.
• Lead privacy, data governance, and cybersecurity guidance.
• Manage outside counsel and optimize contracting processes.
