Job summary

GlaxoSmithKline is seeking a Senior Director for the R&D AI & Technology Portfolio in the United States. The role combines strategic oversight, portfolio analytics, and decision support across R&D investments, with influence across senior leadership and cross-functional teams.

The position is hybrid, requiring on-site collaboration and some remote work, and involves engaging with multiple stakeholders to drive value and transparency.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree required or equivalent experience across strategy, portfolio management, life sciences, technology or transformation.

Responsibilities

• Own portfolio analytics and reporting, creating a credible view of programme status, investment, benefits, risks and delivery confidence.
• Lead the Technology Investment Board secretariat, including agenda development and content preparation for senior decisions.
• Provide independent analysis and recommendations to the SVP and other senior leaders.
• Evaluate strategic choices on build/buy/partner or acquisition of capabilities.
• Build relationships across R&D, Finance and programme teams to drive transparency and action.
• Mobilise cross-functional work and establish governance with clear recommendations.
