Job description

The Senior Digital Marketing Manager is responsible for growing and engaging the Commonwealth Foundation's audiences through social media, podcasts, email, web content, paid digital advertising, and other digital channels.

This is a hands-on position for an experienced digital marketer who combines creative instincts with technical proficiency and a strong focus on measurable results. The Senior Digital Marketing Manager will develop and execute digital strategies that expand the organization's reach, strengthen its relationship with supporters and advocates, and advance major policy and public affairs campaigns.

The Senior Digital Marketing Manager will also oversee programming and effective use of the organization's new multimedia studio, working with internal staff and outside partners to produce and promote compelling podcast and video content.

The successful candidate will be comfortable moving between strategy and execution – leading digital initiatives, managing vendors and budgets, analyzing performance data, and responding quickly to developments in the news. This role reports to the Senior Vice President of Public Affairs.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $85,000 to $100,000, depending on skills and experience. The right candidate likely has 6 or more years of experience. However, we're open to considering promising candidates with fewer years of experience, with the title and compensation adjusted accordingly.

  • Establish performance goals and use analytics and testing to improve content, targeting, distribution, and results.
Owned Media
  • Manage the strategy, growth, and performance of CF's social media channels, websites, advocacy program and platform, and advocate email marketing.
  • Grow and engage CF's advocate network through audience acquisition, segmentation, cultivation, and activation.
  • Develop cross-channel strategies to distribute CF's policy research, commentary, and other content products.
  • Plan podcast programming and other video products, including topics, formats, publishing schedules, distribution, and promotion.
  • Uphold best practices for channel health, account security, and organizational messaging and brand standards.
Paid Media
  • Develop and execute paid digital campaigns supporting issue advocacy, public education, audience acquisition, and promotion of podcasts and other owned content.
  • Translate campaign objectives into effective audiences, messages, creative formats, channel strategies, and performance goals.
  • Coordinate with media buyers and creative partners on campaign implementation.
  • Monitor performance and recommend adjustments to targeting, creative, placement, and spending based on results.
  • Evaluate and report on the effectiveness of paid media in generating awareness, persuasion, engagement, audience growth, and advocate action.
Qualifications
  • At least six years of relevant experience in digital marketing, advocacy, political or issue campaigns, media, nonprofit communications, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience managing social media, websites, email marketing, digital advocacy, paid advertising, and audience growth.
  • Experience developing and executing coordinated paid and owned media strategies.
  • Experience overseeing the development and distribution of podcasts, video, and other multimedia content.
  • Familiarity with digital communications platforms, including social media, websites (e.g. WordPress), email marketing platforms (e.g., Salesforce Marketing Cloud, ActiveCampaign), advocacy platforms (e.g., Quorum), and paid media campaigns.
  • Strong writing, editing, project-management, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to interpret performance data and translate it into strategic, creative, and budget decisions.
  • Experience managing vendors, freelancers, budgets, and multiple concurrent projects.
  • Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment and respond quickly to breaking news and changing priorities.
  • Commitment to free markets, individual liberty, limited government, and the Commonwealth Foundation's mission.
