Job summary

Peraton is seeking a Senior Digital Forensics Examiner to join our Bethesda, MD team supporting a DoW customer. You will lead examinations of digital media, perform data extraction and analysis, and deliver clear expert reports to diverse audiences.

You will apply industry-standard tools, validate findings, and maintain strict chain of custody while staying current with the latest forensic techniques and TTPs.

Qualifications

• Active Top Secret/SCI clearance with a Polygraph is required.
• DoD 8570/8140 IAT Level II certification (e.g., Security+/CySA+/GICSP) preferred.
• 8+ years with BS/BA; 6+ years with MS/MA; 3+ years with PhD; alternate four years of experience may replace degree.
• Experience with mobile forensics on iOS/Android using Cellebrite/GrayKey is expected.

Responsibilities

• Conduct forensically sound examinations of digital and mobile devices.
• Utilize industry-standard forensic tools to extract, recover and analyze data.
• Perform timeline generation, hash analysis, email analysis and handling of large datasets.
• Identify and analyze malware and evidence of intrusion or unauthorized activity.
• Prepare detailed technical reports documenting procedures, findings and opinions.
• Peer-review forensic reports for accuracy and completeness.
• Maintain strict chain of custody for all digital evidence.
• Provide expert consultation on TTPs for digital evidence handling.
• Stay current with evolving digital forensics practices.
