Job summary

Clean Harbors Dolton, IL is seeking a Lead Diesel Mechanic to supervise shop operations, ensure DOT compliance, and maintain records for the fleet. The role requires 5–7 years of diesel engine experience and 1+ year DOT inspection experience, with a valid driver’s license and strong teamwork skills.

Qualifications

• 5-7 years of diesel engine experience.
• 1+ years DOT inspection experience.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Must be versed in electrical, ECMs, fuel, air systems, ABS, hydraulic systems, engines.
• Proficient in diagnostic, repair, and maintenance of heavy vehicles and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day shop operations and supervise maintenance work.
• Ensure fleet DOT compliance and maintain service/parts records.
• Complete daily checklists and track PM schedules.
• Perform safety checks and annual vehicle inspections per laws.
• Maintain a clean, organized work environment and PPE use.
• Conduct offsite road repairs as needed.
