The hours and location you’ll work in as a Senior Diesel Mechanic with WM:

  • 3rd Shift Sunday – Thursday 9pm to 5:30am
  • We’re committed to offering you stable hours for the financial security and work-life balance you need.
  • The normal setting for this job is a repair/maintenance shop at our Newark, OH hauling site.

Each day you’ll fix the trucks and equipment that service over 20 million customers across the USA. As a senior diesel mechanic, you can take pride in watching a truck roll out of the shop, knowing your local community will be supported by your hard work. Our mechanics work on equipment that requires a high level of skill and determination. You’ll be using modern tools and procedures to deliver exceptional maintenance on both diesel equipment and, at some locations, on our growing fleet of CNG trucks.

Here’s more of what you’ll do:

  • Inspect, diagnose, and repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems on a wide range of vehicles and equipment.
  • Estimate time and material costs on vehicle repairs and new parts.
  • Perform your work within our Standard Labor Repair Times (SRTs).
  • Respond to service calls for emergency breakdowns.
  • Conduct safety checks on vehicles – the safety of every employee and community member is our top priority.
  • Complete required paperwork, documenting parts usage, and repair times.
  • Review, complete, or assign repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.
  • Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate/OSHA Standards and safety procedures.

What do you need to be considered for the role of Senior Diesel Mechanic

  • At least 2 years of relevant work experience
  • A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Be over 18 years of age
  • Legally eligible to work in the United States
  • Ability to perform physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations
  • Successfully complete and pass pre-employment drug screen and physical
