Join to apply for the Senior Diesel Mechanic role at Rush Enterprises, Inc.

A Diesel Service Technician is responsible for providing service and repair to our customers' fleet through assigned truck and equipment repairs, while maintaining exceptional customer service.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical service to vehicles and equipment.
  • Perform general and detailed repairs of trucks, engines, and components.
  • Conduct cleaning, maintenance, visual inspections, and removal of parts and attachments.
  • Install parts using proper manuals, report writing, disassembly, assembly, parts reuse evaluation, and reconditioning.
  • Overhaul gas or diesel engines.
  • Install injectors, pistons, liners, cam shafts, cylinder heads, bearings, oil pans, clutches, fan hubs, differentials, fifth wheels, brakes, batteries, and replace transmissions and other parts.
  • Read job orders, observe vehicle operation to determine malfunctions, and plan work procedures.
  • Examine safety guards, bolts, and devices, making adjustments as needed.
  • Lubricate moving parts and drive repaired vehicles to verify specifications.
  • Tag warranty parts and returns appropriately.
  • Attend training and stay updated with factory technical bulletins.
  • Develop positive relationships with customers to enhance satisfaction.
Basic Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • At least 5 years of experience as a Class 7 & 8 technician in a dealership or related truck service facility.
  • Valid driver license; CDL is a plus.
  • Preferred certifications include Peterbilt, International, Ford, Hino, Isuzu, Cummins, and ASE.
