Job summary

Base-2 Solutions is seeking a Senior DevOps Software Engineer to lead a DevOps team for the DOMEX Technology Platform. The role focuses on integrating off-the-shelf and custom software to support TCPED of OSINT for DoD/IC, leveraging cloud, AI/ML, and cross-domain transfer systems.

You will design, deploy, and maintain a containerized microservices platform with Kubernetes, Elasticsearch, and Kafka, driving CI/CD excellence and scalable infrastructure.

Qualifications

• BS in Engineering, CS, Systems Engineering, or related field or equivalent experience with 12+ years in software development/systems.
• DoD 8570.01M IAT Level II certification or higher, e.g., Security+, CySA+, CCNA Security, CISSP (or Associate).
• Experience with container orchestration (Kubernetes), Helm, and CI/CD pipelines; troubleshooting Ingress/Gateway API.

Responsibilities

• Lead a DevOps team responsible for design, deployment, and maintenance of a full stack containerized microservices architecture.
• Deploy, triage, and maintain a production big data pipeline on Kubernetes with Elasticsearch and Kafka.
• Enhance and maintain CI/CD scripts and DevOps processes for rapid, reliable deployments.

Position Summary

Base-2 Solutions is seeking a Senior DevOps Software Engineer to play a critical role on the DOMEX Technology Platform (DTP) Program supporting the mission to centralize and standardize Tasking, Collection, Processing, Exploitation and Dissemination (TCPED) of Open Source Intelligence (OSINT) across the DoD and IC enterprise. The role involves integrating off-the-shelf and newly developed software to sustain and enhance the TCPED platform using cloud computing, AI, ML, and cross-domain transfer systems. The position requires leadership of a DevOps team responsible for design, deployment, and maintenance of a full stack containerized microservices architecture and technical systems administration in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Lead a DevOps team responsible for design, deployment, and maintenance of a full stack containerized microservices architecture.
• Deploy, triage, and maintain a production big data pipeline using microservice architecture running on Kubernetes, Elasticsearch backend, and Kafka messaging.
• Enhance, improve, and maintain CI/CD and DevOps scripts and processes to facilitate faster development, quicker error detection, and resilient deployments.
• Design, develop, and support scalable, redundant infrastructure including physical and virtualized environments.
• Use Helm to configure Kubernetes deployments to support new feature requirements.
• Collaborate with System Engineers to design solutions for new features and requirements.
• Provide technical input to systems engineering documentation and diagrams/models in coordination with SE and Architect teams.
• Own and prioritize the Agile team backlog, ensuring alignment with business priorities and delivery of maximum value.
• Support SAFe Program Increment (PI) planning and execution, including creating and managing work items and project documentation.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily standups, reviews, and retrospectives.
• Monitor sprint and program progress, resolving dependencies, risks, and impediments impacting delivery.
• Review and accept completed work to ensure it meets business requirements and quality standards.
• Collaborate with stakeholders, developers, and leadership to communicate priorities, progress, and product goals.

Required Qualifications

• BS in Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or related field or equivalent experience with 12+ years in software development, system engineering or related field; 10+ years of experience with Master's degree.
• Current DoD 8570.01M IAT Level II (or higher) certification, such as Security+, CySA+, SSCP, CCNA Security, or CISSP (or Associate).
• Ability to obtain Privileged User Account (PUA) certification.
• Experience with container/container orchestration, specifically Kubernetes, including troubleshooting Ingress/Gateway API, Helm chart design/build, Pod disruption budgets, affinity/anti-affinity rules, and familiarity with external-secrets, ArgoCD, cert-manager, and eck (Elasticsearch).
• GitLab pipeline development experience including integration of GitLab CI/CD components, Code Quality reports, and Code Coverage/Test reports.
• Knowledgeable in navigating Linux OS, specifically sysctls for Kubernetes environments, FApolicyd, and SELinux experience.
• Comfortable with Elastic Search, Logstash, and Kibana.
• Experience as a Product Owner or similar role in an Agile software development team with demonstrated ability to break down complex problems into actionable steps, manage and prioritize product backlogs, strong understanding of Agile methodologies, and experience facilitating scrum ceremonies.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to articulate technical and non-technical concepts to diverse audiences.
• Proven ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, design, and project management teams.
• Demonstrated ability to manage expectations and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with development languages such as Bash, PowerShell, SALT, Python, Groovy, Java, etc.
• Experience on a production/enterprise system.
• Experience with Kafka or other message passing systems (AMQP, JMS).
• Experience with Kubernetes monitoring tools such as Prometheus and Grafana.
• Experience with GPU-based Kubernetes.
• Experience with SALT for deployment automation.
• Experience with Nexus.

Required Education and Experience Equivalency

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or related field with 12+ years in software development, system engineering or related field.
• Master's degree with 10+ years in software development, system engineering or related field.

Required Certifications
