Job summary

Octus in New York, NY, seeks a Lead DevOps Engineer to oversee DevOps processes, infrastructure, and cloud operations. You will lead a team of engineers, collaborating with application developers, data engineers, SRE, security, and IT to automate and streamline operations, ensuring reliability, scalability, and security of systems and applications.

The role requires 7+ years in DevOps with leadership, strong AWS experience, Terraform/SaltStack, Docker/Kubernetes, and CI/CD expertise.

Qualifications

7+ years in a DevOps role with 2+ years in a leadership position.
Expert knowledge of cloud concepts and services (EC2, S3, RDS, ELB, EBS, VPC, Route53).
Expert level knowledge of Linux and scripting for automation.
Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and document RCA of incidents.
Good knowledge of database configuration and maintenance.
Security principles and controls in infrastructure design.
Infrastructure-as-code and configuration management tools (Terraform, SaltStack).
Experience with Docker and Kubernetes/ECS in microservices architectures.
Knowledge of CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions).
Experience with monitoring/logging tools (Datadog, CloudWatch).
Excellent communication and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

Lead and mentor a team of DevOps engineers.
Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines for build, test, and deployment.
Prioritize workload to increase developer efficiency.
Manage and optimize cloud infrastructure for scalability and cost-effectiveness (AWS preferred).
Work with SRE to develop monitoring and alerting systems.
Collaborate with Security to enforce security practices.
Coordinate with software developers to optimize performance and reliability.
Participate in disaster recovery and business continuity planning.
Communicate project status, issues, and recommendations to stakeholders.
Participate in on-call rotation for system support.
