Job summary

Opengear in Sandy, UT is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to support hybrid cloud and on-prem build/test infrastructure. You will maintain and evolve CI systems, cloud environments and automated test infrastructure spanning AWS, Azure and physical hardware. Strong AWS experience is essential.

The role is hands-on and technical, with opportunities to mentor junior engineers and influence product architecture, all within a collaborative engineering culture.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in a DevOps role.
• Strong understanding of SDLC and CI/CD with hands-on GitHub/GitHub Actions.
• Proven experience with AWS; familiarity with Azure a plus.
• Proven experience with Kubernetes.
• Strong scripting skills in Python, Bash, or similar.
• Solid system administration skills including user management, security hardening, OS installation, patching, and system monitoring.
• Experience with networking fundamentals - VPCs, DNS, load balancers, VPNs, and firewalls.
• Familiarity with observability tooling (Grafana/Prometheus).
• Security-conscious mindset with IAM, least-privilege access, and secrets management.
• Strong communication and collaboration across teams.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and evolve cloud infrastructure on AWS and Azure.
• Maintain hybrid CI infrastructure and improve build/test reliability.
• Provide tooling, guidance, and environment stability to engineering teams.
• Develop automation and optimize resource utilization to reduce costs.
• Own monitoring, observability, and alerting across infrastructure.
• Champion security best practices across infrastructure (IAM, secrets management).
• Continuously improve development and deployment processes for automation and efficiency.
• Maintain SaaS infrastructure with reliability, scalability, and security.
• Mentor and support junior engineers.
