Job summary

A tech consulting firm is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer based in Portland, Oregon for a 6-12 month contract. The ideal candidate will possess a good understanding of networking protocols such as HTTP, DNS, and TCP/IP, along with extensive experience in AWS technologies, including VPC, EC2, and RDS. Additional skills in automation, scripting (Python, Shell), and CI/CD processes are crucial. Responsibilities

• Must understand networking protocols such as HTTP, DNS, TCP/IP.
• Experience with AWS technologies like VPC, EC2, EBS, S3, RDS, SQS, Lambda.
• Experience in Amazon EMR cluster configuration is essential.
• Job scheduler experience (Oozie, Airflow) is needed.
• Must have familiarity with Python, Shell, and APIs.
• Experience with DevOps orchestration and CI/CD tools.
• Must have working knowledge of version control platforms (Git, TFS).
• Expertise in HDFS infrastructure and automation is required.

Position

Senior DevOps Engineer

Portland, Oregon – 6‑12 months

Responsibilities and Skills

• Good understanding of networking protocols such as HTTP, DNS and TCP/IP
• Experience with Amazon technologies such as VPC, EC2, EBS, S3, RDS, SQS, Lambda and Redshift
• Experience in Amazon EMR cluster configuration
• Job scheduler experience like Oozie or Airflow; Airflow is a plus
• Experience/familiarity with Python, Shell, REST APIs, and JSON encoding
• DevOps, orchestration/configuration management and CI/CD (Chef, Puppet, Jenkins, Go etc.); Go and Chef are a plus
• Version control platform experience (Git, TFS); Git is a plus
• Working experience and understanding of AWS environment
• Experience configuring HDFS infrastructure
• DevOps scripting and automation expertise
• Experience with Chef
• Programming language skills: Python and Bash
