Job summary

Byte Systems in Chantilly, VA, a VTG subsidiary, seeks a Senior DevOps Engineer to build and optimize cross-cloud pipelines, automate infrastructure and support mission systems. You will implement RESTful services, security practices and on-call rotations while collaborating with clients and senior staff.

The role requires Linux scripting or Python automation, Terraform, Docker, Kubernetes and VMware Horizon View experience, plus strong networking and security know-how.

Qualifications

• Experience automating installation, monitoring and O&M tasks with Linux scripting or Python.
• Experience with Terraform, Docker and Kubernetes.
• Familiar with Cron, iptables, permissions.
• Knowledge of OpenVPN, SELinux, NFS and CIFS.
• Understanding of web services, API, REST and RPC.
• Strong networking knowledge: TCP/IP, DNS, SMTP, HTTP and distributed networks.
• Extensive experience with open-source tech, software dev and system engineering.
• VMware technologies including vSphere 7/8, VSAN, Horizon View.
• Data security tools and encryption concepts.

Responsibilities

• Build a DevOps pipeline across AWS, Azure, and Google technologies with CI/CD.
• Design and deploy infrastructure using automation tools and scripting.
• Develop RESTful services and integrate with data providers using JSON/XML.
• Create design docs, SOPs and security documentation.
• Learn new technologies and assist clients before escalation.
• Provide 24x7 on-call support for mission systems on rotation.
