Job summary

The Seattle Times is seeking an experienced Sr. Application Engineer to lead Azure DevOps projects with AI integrations. You will strengthen internal application development and DevOps capabilities, enabling secure adoption of modern AI-driven technologies across newsroom and enterprise operations.

Qualifications

• Five+ years experience with .NET/C#/SQL and Python.
• Strong DevOps skills with Azure Pipelines or GitHub Actions.
• Experience designing, developing, or operating AI-enabled solutions on Azure.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain internal applications using the Microsoft development stack (.NET, C#, SQL) and Python.
• Proficiency in Python for backend development, automation, and Azure AI/data service integrations.
• Design, develop, and integrate APIs to enable scalable system integrations and data exchange.
• Collaborate with cross-functional partners to deliver reliable internal tools while supporting operational needs.
• Evaluate and pilot AI and automation capabilities using Azure AI Services and Copilot.
• Build, enhance, and operate CI/CD pipelines and development workflows using Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions.
• Apply DevOps best practices including source control, automated testing, and deployment automation.
• Implement and support secure IAM solutions, including MFA and RBAC.
• Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation for mission critical systems.
• Other projects and duties as assigned.
