Job summary

GenLogs Corp. seeks a Senior DevOps Engineer to scale its cloud platform for the next generation of freight intelligence. You will own multi-account AWS infrastructure, container platforms, IaC with Terraform, and CI/CD pipelines to enable secure, reliable deployments at scale.

You will collaborate across security, SRE, and product teams, implement policy-as-code, observability, and disaster-recovery practices, while mentoring peers and driving automation.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in DevOps, SRE, or Platform Engineering.
• 5+ years of Terraform experience with modules, remote state, multi-environment patterns, and policy-as-code.

The Engineering team at GenLogs builds and sustains the end-to-end systems that power the country’s most advanced commercial-vehicle sensing and intelligence network. Our engineers develop everything from roadside hardware and embedded software to computer vision pipelines, distributed cloud infrastructure, and real-time data services. We are responsible for the reliability, accuracy, and security of our sensor network and the data products it fuels. Operating across edge, cloud, and field environments, the team partners closely with Deployment, Data Science, and Product to turn complex, real-world requirements into scalable systems that function under demanding conditions and national-level workloads. ABOUT THE JOB

As a Senior Devops Engineer behind Genlogs's platform, you will have an opportunity to define and scale the infrastructure for the systems that will make possible the future of freight intelligence by leveraging AI, distributed sensors and multiple datasets to ubiquitously track all 4 million commercial trucks in the United States and beyond. By helping build unbreakable supply chains, GenLogs is making America safer and stronger.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Design, deploy, and manage secure, multi-account cloud infrastructure on AWS across compute, storage, databases, networking, content delivery, containers, and serverless services
• Build and operate production container platforms on AWS managed container services and Kubernetes, including Helm, GitOps (Argo CD or Flux), autoscaling (Karpenter, HPA/KEDA), and GPU workloads for computer vision and ML inference
• Own our Infrastructure as Code with Terraform: design reusable, versioned modules, manage remote state across accounts and environments, detect and remediate drift, and enforce standards with policy-as-code
• Design and evolve CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions) with reusable workflows, OIDC-based cloud access, automated testing and security scanning, and progressive delivery (blue/green, canary) with automated rollback
• Automate operational work end to end using Python and Bash, event-driven and serverless automation, and self-service tooling that reduces toil for engineering teams
• Build observability across metrics, logs, and traces (OpenTelemetry, CloudWatch, Prometheus/Grafana, Datadog), define SLOs and actionable alerts.
• Own our cloud security posture: least-privilege identity and access management, organization-wide guardrails, encryption and key management, secrets management, and AWS native security, threat detection, and compliance services
• Embed security into the software supply chain, including container and IaC scanning, secret scanning, image signing, and SBOMs
• Implement and maintain the technical controls and automated evidence for SOC 2 Type II and similar frameworks (e.g., ISO 27001), and support audits and customer security reviews
• Leverage AI coding assistants and agents (e.g., Claude Code, GitHub Copilot) to accelerate infrastructure and automation work, with strong review practices and guardrails
• Implement cloud networking, including virtual network design, subnetting and segmentation, private connectivity, load balancing, DNS, and content delivery
• Ensure high availability, fault tolerance, and disaster recovery practices in the cloud, with defined and regularly tested RPO/RTO targets
• Monitor and optimize AWS resources for performance, cost, and security, including FinOps practices for GPU and AI workloads
• Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure issues in real time, and mentor other engineers through design docs, runbooks, and code reviews

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• 5+ years of experience in DevOps, SRE, or Platform Engineering, preferably on high transactional and distributed systems
• 5+ years of experience with Terraform, including reusable module design, remote state management at scale, multi-environment patterns, drift management, and policy-as-code
• 5+ years of experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines with tools such as GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI, or AWS CodePipeline, including reusable pipelines, automated security checks, and progressive delivery
• 5+ years of experience with bash and python scripting for automation
• 3+ years of experience managing AWS infrastructure across compute, storage, databases, networking, content delivery, and serverless services, ideally in multi-account environments
• 3+ years of production experience with Kubernetes, including Helm, GitOps, and cluster security
• 3+ years of hands-on observability experience with metrics, logs, and traces, including defining SLOs and actionable alerts
• 3+ years of experience in cloud security: least-privilege access, encryption, secrets management, network security, and cloud-native security services
• 2+ years of experience implementing or operating controls for SOC 2 (or ISO 27001 / similar frameworks) and supporting audits with evidence
• 3+ years of experience with networking principles (DNS, virtual networks, subnetting, firewalls and security groups, load balancing, VPN) in AWS
• Hands-on, responsible use of AI tools in day-to-day engineering work
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and high effectiveness working in a remote and distributed team

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Certifications such as AWS Certified Developer Engineer, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified Security – Specialty, CKA/CKS, or HashiCorp Terraform Associate
• Experience building AI agents or MCP-based integrations for operational automation
• Experience building Internal Developer Platforms (IDPs) and self-service capabilities for engineering teams, such as golden paths, service templates, on-demand environments, and developer portals (e.g., Backstage, Port)
• Familiarity with compliance frameworks relevant to public-sector and law enforcement customers, such as CJIS, NIST 800-53, or FedRAMP
• Experience with compliance automation platforms (e.g., Vanta, Drata) and supply-chain security practices (SBOM, SLSA, Sigstore)
• Experience with additional IaC and configuration tools like Ansible, CloudFormation, Terragrunt, OpenTofu, or CDK
• Experience with service mesh (Istio, Linkerd) or advanced ingress / API gateway patterns
• Experience managing remote IoT devices at scale using cloud IoT and edge services, including secure over-the-air updates
• FinOps experience, including cost optimization of GPU and AI workloads
