Job description

Senior Development Professional

L’Arche St. Louis is a nonprofit organization that provides residential supports for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We emphasize and focus on building an inclusive, family-like community.

Following a highly successful Capital Campaign, we have a passionate, competent team of new leaders eager to serve as our Development Team for the next decade and beyond. We are seeking a seasoned fundraising leader to mentor, teach, and grow the confidence of our internal team, shaping the future vision of development at L’Arche St. Louis.

As the Development Professional on board, you will use your expert communication skills and sharp initiative to guide our fundraising efforts into their next chapter. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced leader looking for a collaborative, family‑friendly, and team‑oriented work environment where you can leave a lasting legacy through mentorship.

The primary focus will be coaching our Development team, refining our post‑campaign messaging, and identifying new corporate sponsors and major gift opportunities. This is a part‑time role working 2‑3 days per week at our office in Brentwood.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach, coach, and supervise internal Development Team members to build their confidence in relating to and working with external stakeholders.
  • Guide the plan for the Executive Director to pass over relationship management with key stakeholders to the Development Team and the Assistant Director.
  • Guide the team on a comprehensive stewardship plan for existing top donors and fine‑tune our case for support post‑Capital Campaign.
  • Identify, research, and build relationships with new individuals, foundations, and corporate donors.
  • Guide the team in strategy and execution of all fundraising campaigns/efforts and track progress against goals.
  • Ensure the Team is utilizing our CRM to pull reports and regularly communicate data‑driven progress to the Board of Directors in collaboration with the Executive Director.
Required Qualifications
  • 10+ years of professional fundraising experience within the nonprofit sector.
  • Proven track record of successfully securing major donor gifts of $100,000 and above.
  • Exceptional communication and relationship‑building skills.
  • Natural leadership ability with a talent for motivating colleagues and volunteers.
  • Strong alignment with our mission, possessing a deep conviction of the inherent value and dignity of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 3+ years of formal supervisory or team leadership experience.
  • Educational background: Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Business, Nonprofit Management, or a related field.
  • Technical proficiency: Strong competence with donor management systems (CRMs), grant writing, and creating press releases.
  • Direct familiarity with Capital Campaigns is highly preferred.
  • Confidence when presenting to large groups or external stakeholders.
