Job description

Job Title: Senior Development Gift Officer

Marian University, a diverse community of faculty and staff representing many faiths and worldviews, is seeking a Senior Development Gift Officer. The role focuses on promoting our Catholic Franciscan mission by identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding gifts from alumni, friends, the business community, and prospects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Engage actively with the Catholic Franciscan mission, modeling Franciscan Sponsorship Values and honoring the founding congregation's legacy through transformative education, diversity, leadership, faith integration, and policies.
  2. Handle gift cultivation and solicitation in collaboration with the advancement team via a prospect management process.
  3. Manage a portfolio of approximately 150 prospects, generating interest and support for Marian University initiatives.
  4. Collaborate with the Institutional Advancement team, university leadership, faculty, staff, and volunteers in gift solicitation efforts.
  5. Assist team members in identifying potential donors and prospects.
  6. Meet established goals for visits, solicitations, and gifts, with performance tracked regularly.
  7. Align activities with the strategic plan of Marian University and the Office of Institutional Advancement.
  8. Represent Marian University at various off-campus events.
Required Qualifications:
  1. Commitment to Marian University's mission and knowledge of fundraising principles.
  2. Bachelor's degree and at least three years of direct fundraising experience, preferably in higher education.
  3. Ability to analyze and interpret giving data, financial reports, and legal documents for planning purposes.
  4. Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to respond to diverse constituencies.
  5. Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends, and travel as needed.
  6. Valid Indiana Driver's License; CFRE certification preferred.
  7. Strong computer skills and excellent interpersonal skills.
  8. Organized, proactive, collaborative, and capable of working independently and with teams.
