Job summary

Avantus develops, owns and operates utility-scale clean energy projects across California and the Desert Southwest. The Sr. Manager delivers on mid- to late-stage projects, guiding cross-functional teams on site constructability and design levers throughout the project lifecycle.

The role emphasizes cost-benefit assessments, collaboration with Optimization Engineering, Procurement, and EPC partners, and building out scalable processes to grow the pipeline.

Qualifications

• Experience in managing teams of engineers and designers.
• Engineering degree, Civil preferred.
• 5–10 years of utility-scale solar experience.
• Commercially minded engineer who connects details to the big picture.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Knowledge of site capacity analysis tools or modeling tools.
• Ability to evaluate new technologies or tools for layout and design.
• Knowledge of geotechnical and hydro engineering impacts.
• Ability to optimize project design and reduce costs.
• Knowledge of cost drivers for project design.

Responsibilities

• Manage and bridge Development Engineering and Estimating teams within cross-functional groups.
• Opine on constructability and drive cost/benefit assessments for site conditions and layout.
• Guide discussions on design sensitivities as the project progresses.
• Collaborate with Optimization, Development, Permitting, EPC and Procurement teams to build efficiencies.
• Participate in site visits and assess impacts of site conditions and studies.
• Support tools and automation for design, costing and layout with feedback loops.
• Provide Value Engineering support through EPC partnerships.
• Ensure construction and country/regional design/cost considerations are addressed.
• Foster forward-looking, innovative approaches to design and cost.
• Pre-construction PV design and costing and design optimization for LCOE.
