Elastic, the Search AI Company, is seeking a Senior Developer Advocate based in NYC. You will champion the Elastic community, speak at events, and share technical knowledge across blogs and tutorials.

You will build content, answer developer questions, and contribute to GitHub repos while collaborating with a distributed team and maintaining a strong user focus.

Qualifications

• Proven ability to create compelling technical content including talks, blogs, demos and tutorials.
• Strong public speaking experience, at conferences, meetups or virtual events.
• Empathy for the community and ability to translate feedback to product teams.
• Comfortable working with a highly distributed team across locations.
• Experience contributing to self-organizing open source projects.

What You Will Be Doing Are you keen on sharing technology with the world and supporting our global user-base? Do you feel at home connecting with community members across the globe: in person, on blogs, in forums, via social channels, and at events? Is speaking publicly at local meetups your jam? Are you passionate about the Elastic Stack? If so this might just be your dream job.

• Speaking publicly at in-person and virtual conferences, meetups and other events.
• Answering questions from developers on Discuss (our forum), Slack and other forums.
• Building and sharing content, including social media posts, in-depth blog posts, example code, demos, tutorials and videos on elastic.co or our YouTube channel.
• Contributing code on GitHub both to Elastic and external repositories.
• Providing feedback from the developer community to our engineering teams to improve Elastic products.

For this role, you will be our Senior Developer Advocate based in NYC, New York . You will keep up-to-date on the latest in search and AI, understand and advocate the Elastic Stack use cases, and be embedded in the developer community.

What You Bring

• Deep technical background and experience in an engineering role, such as software engineering.
• Demonstrated ability to create compelling content about technology — including speaking, writing, and demoing.
• Empathy for the community to help them solve their issues, provide internal feedback to make Elastic’s products better, and fix problems where possible.
• Comfortable working with a highly distributed team.
• A devoted individual with experience working as a contributor in self-organizing teams.
• Excellent spoken and written communication skills in English.

Compensation for this role is in the form of base salary. This role does not have a variable compensation component. The typical starting salary range for new hires in this role is listed below. In select locations (including Seattle WA, Los Angeles CA, the San Francisco Bay Area CA, and the New York City Metro Area), an alternate range may apply as specified below. These ranges represent the lowest to highest salary we reasonably and in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the ranges may be modified in the future. An employee's position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.

Elastic believes that employees should have the opportunity to share in the value that we create together for our shareholders. Therefore, in addition to cash compensation, this role is currently eligible to participate in Elastic's stock program. Our total rewards package also includes a company-matched 401k with dollar-for-dollar matching up to 6% of eligible earnings, along with a range of other benefits offered with a holistic emphasis on employee well‑being.

The typical starting salary range for this role is: $113,100 — $178,900 USD

The typical starting salary range for this role in the select locations listed above is: $135,900 — $215,100 USD
