Job summary

Navy Federal Credit Union is seeking an experienced software engineer to design, build, and maintain scalable applications that meet evolving business needs. You will work with product managers, designers, and developers to deliver high‑quality code and secure systems in a collaborative team environment.

Responsibilities include writing efficient code, developing tests, and ensuring performance, reliability, and security.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 5-7 years of software development experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of SDLC and Agile methodologies.
  • Significant experience with development frameworks, APIs, and database management.
  • Experience with version control systems.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and deploy software solutions.
  • Write clean, maintainable code following standards and security guidelines.
  • Analyze complex technical challenges, troubleshoot issues, and implement solutions.
  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other developers to build scalable applications.
  • Participate in peer code reviews and provide feedback to improve quality.
  • Develop and execute unit and integration tests to ensure reliability.
  • Stay up to date with emerging technologies to improve development efficiency.
  • Maintain technical documentation for code, processes, and architecture.

Job description

To design, build, and maintain software applications or systems that meet user needs and solve specific problems. They leverage programming languages, frameworks, and tools to create efficient, scalable, and user-friendly solutions, while collaborating with other team members and stakeholders to ensure high-quality deliverables. Work under minimal supervision and use complete understanding of business needs and objectives to support projects that have impact on the achievement of operational goals. Advanced skill set and proficiency with procedures and techniques.

Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, test, and deploy advanced high-quality software solutions that meet business and technical requirements.
  • Write advanced clean, maintainable, and efficient code following coding standards, best practices, and security guidelines.
  • Analyze complex technical challenges, troubleshoot issues, and implement effective solutions.
  • Work closely with product managers, designers, and other developers to build advanced, scalable and reliable applications.
  • Participate in peer code reviews and provide constructive feedback to improve code quality and team collaboration.
  • Develop and execute complex unit tests, integration tests, and other quality assurance measures to ensure software reliability.
  • Stay up to date with emerging technologies, frameworks, and industry trends to enhance development efficiency.
  • Maintain clear technical documentation for code, processes, and system architecture.
  • Optimize complex code and applications for performance, scalability, and efficiency.
  • Ensure applications meet security and compliance requirements, addressing vulnerabilities proactively.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree preferred in computer science, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 5-7 years of experience in software development
  • Complete knowledge and understanding of business area/specialization.
  • Advanced in one or more programming languages.
  • Significant experience with development frameworks, APIs, and database management.
  • Advanced knowledge of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and agile methodologies.
  • Significant experience with version control systems.
  • Experience in working with all levels of staff, management, stakeholders, vendors
  • Advanced skill analyzing and organizing problems or work processes for technical solutions
  • Advanced skill designing and deploying new, upgraded and/or existing systems
  • Advanced skill in systems analysis, workflow, or procedural analysis
  • Advanced database and presentation software skills
  • Advanced organizational, planning and time management skills
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills
  • Advanced problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
