In this role, you will develop and support high-performance applications that balance reliability, usability, and maintainability while helping solve complex business challenges. Working closely with business partners, architects, product teams, and fellow engineers, you will contribute to solutions that improve customer engagement, streamline experiences, and support evolving organizational needs. The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise, sound engineering judgment, and a passion for continuous learning and innovation.

WhatYou'll Do

• Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable, high-availability applications that support mission-critical business operations.
• Build well-structured, maintainable, and efficient software solutions across front-end, back-end, and service layers.

• Independently perform analysis, discovery, and technical investigation to identify opportunities, risks, and recommended approaches.
• Participate in solution design discussions and contribute to architecture decisions that support scalability, stability, and long-term maintainability.
• Evaluate technology options and provide recommendations regarding build-versus-buy decisions, integrations, and platform capabilities.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex production and development issues while communicating effectively with stakeholders, vendors, and team members.
• Promote code quality through testing, code reviews, automation, and adherence to development best practices.
• Research emerging technologies, industry trends, and engineering practices to identify opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement.
• Support application performance, reliability, security, and observability objectives.

What You Bring

Salary Range

At Blue Cross NC, we take great pride in a fair and equitable compensation package that reflects market-price and our starting salaries are typically planned near the middle of the range listed. Compensation decisions are driven by factors including experience and training, specialized skill sets, licensure and certifications and other business and organizational needs. Our base salary is part of a robust Total Rewards package that includes an Annual Incentive Bonus*, 401(k) with employer match, Paid Time Off (PTO), and competitive health benefits and wellness programs.
