Job description

Cerebras Systems builds the world's largest AI chip, 56 times larger than GPUs. This architecture allows Cerebras to deliver industry-leading training and inference speeds; over 10 times faster than GPU-based hyperscale cloud inference services. This order of magnitude increase in speed is transforming the user experience of AI applications, unlocking real-time iteration and increasing intelligence via additional agentic computation. Cerebras works with the leading model labs, global enterprises, and cutting-edge AI-native startups. OpenAI recently announced a multi-year partnership with Cerebras, to deploy 750 megawatts of scale, transforming key workloads with ultra high-speed inference.

We are seeking a senior Detection and Response Engineer to build and evolve the capabilities that power our detection and response program. You will create reliable detections, lead complex investigations and coordinated response, and develop systems and automation that make security operations faster and more consistent. The right candidate can own complex work, set strong engineering standards, and turn findings into durable program improvements.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the design and optimization of detections, playbooks, and workflows to quickly identify and respond to potential incidents.
  • Lead investigations and coordinated response for complex security events, including on-call responsibilities.
  • Own key areas of the detection and response program and provide technical leadership to broader team initiatives.
  • Build automation and integrations that reduce toil and make investigation and response faster and more consistent.
  • Build and maintain detection and response capabilities as code, setting standards for testing, deployment, monitoring, and reliability.
  • Translate incident findings and attacker behavior into durable improvements, including the thoughtful application of AI-driven approaches.
  • Maintain clear runbooks and technical documentation, and mentor other engineers in effective detection and response practices.
Skills and Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in detection engineering, incident response, or security engineering, with demonstrated ownership of complex technical initiatives.
  • Strong proficiency in Python and query languages such as SQL, with the ability to write clean, maintainable, and testable code.
  • Deep practical knowledge of detection and response across cloud, identity, and endpoint environments.
  • Experience leading complex investigations and translating attacker behavior into durable detection and response improvements.
  • Experience building and operating production security tooling and automation, with strong fundamentals in reliability and data quality.
  • Strong fundamentals in operating systems, networking, log analysis, and troubleshooting distributed systems.
  • Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to set technical direction, create clear documentation, and mentor other engineers.
