Job summary

The GEO Group, Inc. is seeking a Senior Transportation Officer to lead detainee transport operations. This role requires a CDL Class B with a passenger endorsement, adherence to safety protocols, and coordination with Transportation Management for efficient service.

Responsibilities include overseeing vehicle inspections, ensuring permits and licenses are in order, and supporting management with problem-solving during transport operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent certification required. State requisites for employment.
• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Two years of driving experience in a transportation capacity.
• Demonstrated leadership experience.
• Must possess a State Firearms License.
• Must possess a State Security Guard License.
• Completed approved training in Corrections, Law Enforcement, or Military.
• CDL Class B with Passenger Endorsement and clean driving record.
• Pass DOT drug and alcohol test.
• Ability to work overtime frequently.
• Ability to travel extended periods with overnight stays.
• Ability to handle physical and mental stress of long hours.
• Regular punctuality and reliability.
• Ability to be physically alert on any shift.
• Ability to work up to 16 hours in rolling 24-hour periods.
• Maturity, flexibility, and ability to command respect of inmates and staff.
• Ability to pass background investigation.
• Will travel on short notice.
• Ability to work with department software.

Responsibilities

• The Senior Transportation Officer assists management when unique or unexpected problems arise while transporting detainees; helps develop solutions.
• The Senior Transportation Officer reviews vehicle inspection reports and develops management summaries.
• Ensures all permits and licenses for assigned vehicles are in order.
• Verifies safety equipment before trips; notifies management of issues.
• Tracks DOT HOS on Electronic Logging Devices.
• Assists with interviewing and screening Transport Officers when required.
• Reviews paperwork and reports accurately and ensures proper submission.
• Ensures missions meet or exceed safety measures under PBNDS/FBNDS.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
