Job summary

Alice and Olivia in New York, NY is seeking a Senior Designer / Designer, Soft Wovens to drive design concepts for the contemporary women’s market. You will rely on your experience to plan goals with the Design team and partner closely with Production, R&D and other design groups to ensure timely delivery of patterns and seasonal lines.

Requirements include 5–7 years in design and a Fashion Design degree; strong color/print sense; proficiency with Illustrator, Photoshop and Microsoft Office;

Qualifications

• 5-7 years of experience in design.
• Bachelor’s or advanced Degree in Fashion Design.
• High fashion aesthetics with modern sensibility.
• Familiar with Microsoft Office, Illustrator, Photoshop.
• Strong color/print sense and sketching, both freehand and flat.
• Willing to travel internationally when required.

Responsibilities

• Possess extensive knowledge of garment construction and technical specs.
• Lead fit sessions and product line reviews; ensure timely release of patterns.
• Meet corporate design and calendar deadlines.
• Maintain knowledge of market trends and competition; lead seasonal trend development.
• Create hand sketches based on direction from Creative Director.
• Maintain original vision and fit expectations; coordinate with overseas vendors.

POSITION SUMMARY:

This person will demonstrate expertise and knowledge in design concepts, practices, and procedures particularly in the contemporary women’s market. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish Design departmental goals. Candidate will have proven success in an Apparel Design environment or in a related field. This individual will partner closely with Production, R&D, and other Design related divisions.

KEY RESPONSIBLITIES:

• Possess extensive knowledge of garment construction and

• Takes an active role in fit sessions and product line reviews
• ensuring timely release of patterns
• Ensure corporate design and calendar deadlines are met
• Maintain a strong knowledge of market trends and competition
• Lead the research and development of seasonal trends

• Ensures original vision and fit expectations are maintained
• Develop and maintain good relationships with overseas vendors

QUALIFICATION:

• Must be familiar with Microsoft office, Illustrator, Photoshop
• Strong color sense/print sense
• Must have experience in freehand and flat design sketching
• Willingness and ability to travel internationally when required

BENEFITS:

• $100,000 - $135,000 base salary (This range represents the low and high end of the anticipated base salary range for this NY - based position. The base salary will depend on numerous factors such as: experience and qualifications for the role, experience level, skillset, and balancing internal equity relative to other A+O employees.)
