Job summary

PUMA Group is seeking a seasoned Apparel Designer to contribute to running/training apparel design across four seasonal ranges yearly. You will craft concepts, develop CADs and tech packs, and work with global teams to ensure design and cost targets are met.

The role requires 6 years of sports apparel experience, proficiency in Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop, and willingness to travel up to 25% with telecommuting up to two days weekly.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design or related field.
  • 6 years of experience as an Apparel Designer or Assistant Apparel Designer in sports apparel.
  • Proficient with Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop) for CAD and presentation design.

Responsibilities

  • Design apparel concepts and products meeting Puma’s standards.
  • Prepare artwork pages, CADs, and tech packs on time.
  • Collaborate with design, product development, and PLM teams.
  • Coordinate with sourcing offices to align design and production.
  • Develop understanding of fabric, trims, and production techniques.
  • Create products meeting cost and margin targets.
  • Support color, trend, and graphic alignment with Running Footwear.
  • Present designs to groups and key stakeholders.

Your Mission
  • Contribute to creating designs and support the Running/Training apparel design team.
  • Design apparel concepts and products that meet Puma’s global performance brand and quality standards.
  • Work closely with the apparel design team, product development, and PLM team to develop four seasonal and carryover apparel ranges per year.
  • Responsible for the timely and accurate completion of artwork pages, CADS, and tech packages based on design time and action calendar.
  • Partner with Developers and World Cat sourcing offices to implement a clear understanding of product design, fit, and function.
  • Develop thorough understanding of the capabilities, flexibility, and limitations of source base.
  • Create and execute apparel products that meet cost and margin and brief requirements.
  • Drive desirability, innovation, and inspiration to create the next ICON products. Ensure that all products follow Puma international design, brand, and quality standards.
  • Partner with Running Footwear team to assure seasonal color, trend, performance, and graphic alignment.
  • Conduct market research for competitor, best practices, consumer, and price studies, and most importantly trend research.
  • Be accountable for the organization and preparation of key meeting tools.
  • Ensure aligned apparel and graphic design concept and product presentations in front of small and large groups.
Your Talent
  • Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design or related field of study
  • 6 years of experience working as an Apparel Designer or Assistant Apparel Designer for a sports apparel company. Work in the sports performance and/or sport lifestyle market; Conduct trend and competitor research in the sports performance and lifestyle markets; Utilize Adobe Creative Suite including Illustrator and Photoshop for CAD and presentation design; Work with sports apparel fabrics, trims, and production techniques; building sports apparel development documents to communicate with overseas production partners such as tech packs and BOMs (bill of materials); Fitting sports apparel garments.
  • Telecommuting permitted up to 2 days per week. Requires up to 25% domestic and international travel.

The base pay for this position is $127,712 + Bonus + Benefits

Pay may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
