Job summary

Cimarron is seeking a Designer to develop complex engineering drawings for pressure vessels, separators, piping, skids, and packaged equipment using CAD software. The designer will work with engineers, project managers, and production staff to translate requirements into precise fabrication drawings and ensure compliance with codes and standards.

The role emphasizes 3D CAD, ASME code calculations, and detailed layouts.

Qualifications

  • Requires High School Diploma or equivalent plus 4–6 years CAD drafting and design experience.
  • Associates degree in engineering preferred; technical/trade certification acceptable.
  • Proficiency in reading P&ID’s, PFD’s, GA drawings; ASME Code knowledge is expected.

Responsibilities

  • Develops detailed design drawings and specs for code vessels, piping systems, and skid assemblies using CAD software.
  • Read and interpret P&ID’s, PFD’s, and GA drawings; collaborate with engineers and shop personnel.
  • Modify designs to fix deficiencies and ensure correct fits; verify material dimensions and part numbers.

They will collaborate closely with engineers, project managers, and production personnel to translate design concepts, calculations, and project requirements into accurate fabrication and installation drawings. The Designer III will ensure drawings comply with applicable industry codes, standards, and company procedures while providing technical guidance and support throughout the design and manufacturing process.Key Responsibilities:Develops detailed design drawings and specifications for code vessels, code separators, piping systems, structural skids, packaged assemblies, mechanical equipment, controls, etc. using computer-assisted design and drafting (CADD) computer softwareExperience with 3-D design, ASME Code, welded steel structures and piping preferred.Reads and interprets P&ID’s, PFD’s, and GA drawingsWorks in conjunction with design engineers, project, and shop personnel to produce detailed layouts, hand sketches/drawings and project notes to convert into CADD blueprintsReviews and analyses specifications, sketches, drawings, ideas, and related data to assess factors affecting component designs including the procedures and instructions to be followedModifies and revises designs to correct operating deficiencies or to reduce production problemsVerifies dimensions of materials to be used and assigns numbers to the materialsDraws and lays out schematic, orthographic or angle views to depict functional relationships of components, assemblies, systems, and machinesWorks collaboratively with others to pursue department and company goalsReviews schematics and answers questions pertaining to assembly procedures and instructionsLayout, draw and reproduce illustrations for reference manuals and technical publications to describe operation and maintenance of mechanical systemsVerifies the nominal fits of all parts as they are detailed from an overall layoutManages and plots CAD files, original plots and CNC part programs per company standards and manages the electronic file backups.Incorporates red lines to original drawings from shop drawings as delegated by engineeringSelf-checks and corrects all work prior to submitting for final review/productionBasic Qualifications:High School Diploma or equivalentTechnical/Trade School certificationFour (4) to six (6) years of experience in CAD Drafting and Design (Inventor, Solid Works and/or Cadworx)What We’re Looking For:Associates Degree in Engineering, preferably mechanicalFour (4) to six (6) years of experience in mechanical, electrical and instrumentation drafting and designWorking knowledge of 3D CAD SystemsDemonstrated proficiency within any related drafting discipline (i.e., civil, mechanical, electrical, process piping, etc.)Knowledge of Pressure Vessels, Skids (Structural), piping and P&ID’sMust have knowledge of production equipment, GPU’s, Separator packages, etc.Must be able to read and understand ASME Pressure Vessel Code CalculationsStrong analytical and interpersonal skillsExcellent written/oral communication skillsResults-oriented and able to work both independently and within a team environmentStrong problem-solving, organizational, and administrative skills, including computer proficiencyProficient in Microsoft Office Suite applicationsWhat We OfferCompetitive salary & Bonus Eligibility️ Benefits: 401K Matching, HSA employer contributions, paid maternity/parental leaveGrowth: Tuition Reimbursement, Career Paths, Internal Promotion OpportunitiesPerks: Quarterly company paid volunteer opportunities, robust PTO plan, team events
