W-2 ONLY, NO (C2C, Sponsorship, H1B, OPT) 6 Month Contract with renewals, 100% Remote

Pay: $75 - $95 per hour W-2

Candidates must have Human-Centered Design (HCD) experience and Portfolio to submit

CBTS is searching for a Senior Design/User Researcher to support the scaling of our Human-Centered Design practice by building our continuous research capabilities and deepening our strategic understanding of users through archetypes, journeys, and service design integration.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

• Build and operationalize continuous research programs that provide ongoing visibility into user needs, behaviors, and outcomes
• Lead development of behavioral archetypes, journey maps, and user segmentation models that inform experience architecture and prioritization
• Partner with designers, service designers, and product leads to embed research into strategic decision-making
• Design and facilitate qualitative and mixed-method studies across the product and service lifecycle
• Mentor internal team members and establish repeatable, scalable research practices
• Translate insights into clear narratives that influence stakeholders across product, clinical, and operational domains
• Contribute to the development of a research repository and insight management process

SKILLS & EXPERTISE

Strategic Research Leadership

• 7+ years experience in user research, design research, or behavioral insight roles
• Proven experience with strategic modeling: archetypes, ecosystem mapping, service blueprints
• Experience shaping experience strategies or roadmaps with cross-functional teams

Continuous Research Capability Building

• Strong background in continuous discovery models, mixed-methods integration, and ops tooling
• Familiarity with tools like Dovetail, Aurelius, EnjoyHQ, or equivalent

Service Design Fluency

• Comfortable working alongside service designers to map frontstage/backstage interactions
• Understands how user research connects to operational and systemic constraints
• Strong storytelling and insight framing skills
• Able to shift from exec-level synthesis to in-the-weeds co-design sessions
• Comfortable consulting within a growing, evolving HCD organization
• Able to mentor, partner, and build bridges across functions and levels of design maturity

NICE-TO-HAVE

• Healthcare or regulated-industry experience
• Exposure to behavioral science or change management
• Workshop facilitation or co-creation sprint leadership
• Systems thinking
