Job summary

Bardes Plastics in Milwaukee, WI, seeks a Manager for Design Process and Tool Shop to oversee design and development of new packaging projects and the tooling for production equipment. The role directs internal teams and liaises with customers to ensure tooling requirements are met.

The candidate will use CAD software and CNC programming to develop prototypes, coordinate vendor services, and manage tooling projects from concept through production.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret drawings, blueprints and customer specifications.
• Experience with computer aided design software for tooling and prototyping.
• Knowledge of machining practices and setup of tool room machines.
• Understanding of geometric shapes, geometry, and basic trig.
• Ability to manage day-to-day department operations and supervise staff.
• Experience coordinating with sales, estimating, purchasing, and production.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement long-range and short-term strategies for tooling and packaging projects.
• Direct and coordinate design and development of tooling for production machines.
• Design tooling and plan vendor services to complete new tooling projects.
• Coordinate repair and maintenance of existing tooling.
• Lead design reviews with customers or Bardes Plastics teams.
