Outsource Consulting Services, Inc. is seeking a Senior Design Specialist A- 2D/3D Structural Designer to support our client in Aiken, SC. The role involves developing designs for complex engineering systems, preparing drawings, and contributing to design standards and procedures.

Responsibilities include design output generation, review of vendor documents, and field walk-downs to assess conditions. A DOE clearance is required, with multiple work arrangements and a 40-hour week.

Seeking a Senior Design Specialist A- 2D/3D Structural Designer to support our client in Aiken, SC.

Requirements:

Contractor will perform the following:

• Develop designs for complex engineering systems. Prepare drawings and technical reports. Participate in the development of design standards and procedures. Perform technical review of design documents and specifications. Provide engineering services support to construction activities.
• Prepare and review design standards and procedures. Prepare construction installation specifications and details. Prepare procurement specifications and bid analysis. Review and approve Design Change Forms. Resolve existing design discrepancies with the most cost effective approach to meet design criteria. Initiate Design Change Forms and coordinate with Subcontractors or other responsible group for approval/incorporation. Provide dispositions to Nonconformance Reports and Field Problem Memos by determining a solution to the condition which will satisfy design criteria. Perform inspections by facilities, systems, or components as required for proper evaluation of conditions. Review construction procedures to ensure compliance with design engineering criteria and applicable codes. Perform in-depth analyses of advanced technical concepts and devises new approaches to technical problems.

Additional Duties

• Provide 2D/3D Structural Design staff augmentation support to SRNS. Primary responsibilities include design development, and generation of design output documents including but not limited to:
  • Concrete buildings and foundations
  • Structural steel for supports, platforms, and buildings
  • Rebar detailing
  • Steel detailing
  • Preparation of fabrication drawings
  • Review of vendor documents
  • Commodity supports
• Design services shall be provided using SRNS processes and procedures. Programmatic guidance will be provided by SRNS.
• Candidate must be able to perform field walk-downs of the job site for the engineering work being performed. These walk-downs may involve construction sites with uneven surfaces and work in progress, walking for distances over a half mile, climbing ladders to access remote areas, dressing out in protective clothing.

Work Hours:

A 40 hour work week is scheduled. The client utilizes various work schedules including 5/8s (8 hour/day; five days per week), 4/10's (10 hours/day; four days per week), and 9/80's (9 hours/day, five days on week AA and four days on week BB). Work week excludes the client's holidays. Each workday has 30-minute lunch. Overtime will be expected at times to meet deliverables and will be utilized at the discretion of the Manager. The anticipated work schedule is Mon-Thur 6:00am-4:30pm.

Area Security Access:

Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE "Q" security clearance. An active DOE clearance is not initially required to perform assigned duties. After award, the selected candidate will be notified when to apply for a clearance based on specific work assignments.

Qualifications:

Required

• An in-depth knowledge of engineering systems, applications, calculations, materials, construction methods, and relevant computer applications.
• Ability to apply advanced principles and practices in engineering to resolve problems identified by construction organizations in a timely manner.
• Continued knowledge on new technologies and hardware in the industry.
• Must have 8 years of experience as a Structural Designer including experience with structural detailing and design of building structures and commodity supports.
• Knowledge of 3D structural modeling and experience using 3D Modeling using Hexagon's S3D software is required
• Working knowledge of National Codes and Standards for structural design.
• The ability to produce quality documents with attention to detail.
• Must be able to maintain and obtain a DOE "Q" clearance

Education

• Associate degree in a technical discipline and at least 10 - 12 years of work experience OR
• 12 - 16 years of practical work experience
• Formal training in Computer Aided Design or 3D modeling is preferred

Preferred

• Candidates who have possessed an active DOE clearance (L or Q) within the past two (2) years.
• Previous SRS Design Engineering or DOE facility experience.
