Fieldpiece Instruments is seeking a Senior Design Quality Engineer – Connected Products (Hardware & Software) to partner across engineering disciplines in Orange, CA with a future move to Tustin. The role follows a hybrid work schedule, onsite three days per week, and involves defining verification strategies and ensuring product quality across hardware, firmware, and software.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in Design Quality, Design Assurance, Verification & Validation (V&V), or New Product Development Quality for complex electro-mechanical products.
• Experience in hardware, firmware, and software product development lifecycle.
• Strong understanding of design controls, risk management, root cause analysis, and quality engineering principles.
• Experience with DFMEA, Design for Reliability (DfR), or statistical quality tools.

Responsibilities

• Partner with Engineering throughout the development of new hardware, firmware, software, and connected products.
• Develop verification and validation strategies that ensure products meet customer, performance, and regulatory requirements.
• Design and execute test plans that validate functionality, reliability, usability, and safety.
• Build and evaluate prototypes while identifying opportunities to improve product quality before launch.
• Participate in design reviews and provide technical guidance throughout product development.
• Investigate failures, identify root causes, and drive corrective actions.
• Collaborate with global manufacturing partners to support successful product launches.
