Job summary

Pacific Life is seeking a Senior Design Project Manager to join the Global Workplace Services team, driving workplace optimization, space planning, and project execution across locations including Charlotte, NC. You will collaborate with facilities, IT, HR, and vendors to align space with organizational needs and standards.

The role requires 8–10+ years in corporate office design or facilities management, strong project management, and proficiency with AutoCAD and CAFM/IWMS.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Interior Design, Facilities Management, or related field.
  • 8–10+ years of experience in corporate office design, commercial office furniture, project management, or facilities management.
  • Knowledge of building codes and ability to read architectural/MEP drawings.
  • Strong project management skills and stakeholder communication.

Responsibilities

  • Lead workplace projects end-to-end including Tenant Improvements and space rearrangements.
  • Develop project plans, timelines, budgets and manage risks.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams (Facilities, IT, HR, vendors) to deliver projects on time and within scope.
  • Establish and maintain workplace standards, guidelines, and governance across locations.
  • Monitor occupancy, space utilization and trends to improve workplace efficiency.

This role combines project management, space planning, workplace design, and stakeholder engagement to ensure optimal use of real estate, alignment with workforce needs, and adherence to workplace standards. You will be joining the Global Workplace Services team that includes facilities professionals, workplace design professionals, project managers, event coordinators, and data and systems professionals.How you’ll help move us forward:Workplace OptimizationDevelop and execute workplace strategies that align with organizational goals, workforce trends, and business needsAnalyze headcount forecasts, growth, and reductions to proactively plan space requirementsPartner with business leaders to understand team structures, workflows, and adjacency requirementsEnsure departmental adjacencies support collaboration, productivity, and operational efficiencyLead space planning initiatives, including layout development, workplace concepts, and utilization optimizationProject ManagementManage workplace projects end-to-end, including Tenant Improvements, Building Restacks, new site buildouts, and furniture reconfigurationsDevelop project plans, timelines, and budgets; track progress and mitigate risksDetermine project requirements and coordinate with cross-functional teams (Facilities, IT, HR, external vendors) to align project requirements and deliver projects on time and within scopeReview project documentation to ensure requirements are documented accurately and meet internal company standardsManage relationships with external consultants and vendorsWorkplace Experience, Standards & GovernanceEstablish and maintain workplace standards, guidelines, and best practicesEnsure consistency in design, space utilization, and workplace experience across locationsManage various workplace processes/standards: employee relocations, seat assignments, furniture standards, infrastructure standards, ergonomics, art and signageMonitor compliance with workplace policies and corporate standardsAnalyze workplace data to understand occupancy, space utilization, and usage patternsStay current on industry trends and best practicesCustomer Relationship ManagementPartner closely with key business leaders ensuring service delivery meets/exceeds expectations.Proactively communicate effectively to keep stakeholders informedProvide recommendations and insights based on data and workplace trendsCommunicate changes, project updates, and workplace strategies effectively to stakeholdersThe experience you bring:Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Interior Design, Facilities Management, or related field8–10+ years of experience in corporate office design, commercial office furniture, project management, or facilities managementKnowledge of building codesAbility to read and understand architectural and MEP drawingsKnowledge of the design process, furniture systems, construction and infrastructure standardsStrong project management skills with experience leading complex workplace initiativesProficiency with space planning tools (e.g., AutoCAD, CAFM/IWMS systems) and Microsoft ApplicationsExcellent stakeholder management and communication skillsAbility to supervise outsourced contractorsStrategic thinking and problem-solvingAdaptability in a fast-paced, evolving environmentPersonable, positive, customer service mindset.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Ability to manage competing demands and adapt to frequent or unexpected changes.Strong organizational skillsStrong presentation skills, both oral and writtenAbility to build partnerships and work collaborativelyWhat makes you stand out:Familiarity with sustainability and workplace wellness standardsExperience mentoring and training employeesSalary Ranges per Location:Newport Beach, CA: $137,610 - $168,190Omaha, NE: $118,800 - $145,200Charlotte, NC: $125,100 - $152,900#LI-AJ1Base Pay Range:The base pay range noted represents the company’s good faith minimum and maximum range for this role at the time of posting. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to experience, qualifications and geographic location.
