Job description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Design Manager (Senior Project Manager) - Transit to lead the design and implementation of complex transit projects. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing geotechnical design, overseeing tunneling operations, and coordinating multidisciplinary teams to ensure project success. This role requires deep expertise in transit infrastructure with underground construction and some geotechnical knowledge.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Lead efforts for tunneling and transit projects from concept through construction.
  2. Develop and oversee technical strategies, ensuring alignment with project goals, budgets, and timelines.
  3. Coordinate with internal teams, clients, and stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution.
  4. Conduct risk assessments, feasibility studies, and relevant investigations.
  5. Review and approve engineering designs, calculations, and reports related to all aspects of transit infrastructure work including tunneling and geotechnical works.
  6. Collaborate with contractors and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with industry standards and environmental regulations.
  7. Oversee construction activities, including excavation, lining, ground reinforcement, and structural integrity assessment.
  8. Ensure constructability reviews are integrated into design phases to optimize construction methodologies and minimize risks.
  9. Work closely with construction managers and site teams to resolve technical challenges during execution.
  10. Mentor and guide engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and innovation.
  11. Stay up to date with emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in geotechnical and tunnel engineering.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 12+ years of experience in geotechnical and tunnel design, particularly in transit infrastructure projects.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
  • Proven experience managing large-scale, multidisciplinary infrastructure projects.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

Compensation Range: $154,221.56 - $205,628.74
