Job summary

Saronic Technologies Inc. seeks a senior design leader to guide multi-discipline teams through concept to handover for industrial, manufacturing, or technology projects.

The role requires coordination with sponsors, SMEs, and facilities, and frequent interaction with EHS and regulatory bodies. The ideal candidate has 6+ years leading complex design efforts, a track record of meeting budgets and schedules, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• 6+ years leading multi-discipline design teams in industrial, manufacturing, distribution or technology sectors.
• Minimum 4 years of design experience in architecture, structural, MEP, or site/civil.
• Experience leading teams of SMEs, facilities and EHS, with budget and scheduling awareness.
• Strong scheduling and capital project budgeting experience with track record of meeting deadlines and budgets.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills with ability to switch between details and big picture.

Responsibilities

• Lead/oversee design efforts for multiple capital projects of varying size and complexity.
• Develop and scope projects including requirements, goals, budgets, schedules, and implementation approaches.
• Collaborate with technical SMEs, sponsors, construction, facilities, and EHS teams.
• Develop RFPs for design and construction proposals from external vendors.
• Occasional travel and engagement with AHJs and municipalities for approvals.
• Oversee design reviews and approvals.

Job Overview

A senior level professional who leads design teams for mid to large sized infrastructure projects or smaller projects with technically complex features, driving work from concept through delivery. Provides mentorship to junior designers and engineers, raises team craft standards, and partners cross-functionally to ensure design solutions align with project and business goals. Preferably professionally licensed /PMP in their area of practice or non-licensed and possessing experience more than the higher end of experience range. May be assigned to focus on portions of larger projects/programs under direction of more experienced design managers.

Responsibilities

• Lead/oversee design efforts for multiple, simultaneous capital projects of various size and complexity
• Lead development, identification, and scoping of projects including requirements, goals, budgets, schedules, and implementation approaches
• Work in partnership with internal team members including technical SME’s, project sponsors, construction, facilities, and EHS.
• Develop RFP’s for design and construction proposals from external 3rd parties
• Occasional travel
• Design review and approval
• Engagement with AHJ’s and municipalities as required for project approvals

Qualifications

• 6+ years proven experience leading a multi-discipline design teams including civil/site, structural, MEP, FP, architecture design elements through the complete project life cycle from concept/project definition through to commissioning and hand over. Project experience should be in an industrial, manufacturing, distribution, or technology sector. Project experience desired to be a combination of smaller (<$2M), medium ($2M - $50M), and large (> $50M) capital investment.
• Minimum 4 years of actual design experience in one of the following areas of focus: architecture, structural, MEP, site/civil.
• Demonstrated experience with leading and facilitating project teams comprised of technical SME’s, manufacturing representatives, facilities and EHS representatives, and construction/commissioning representatives.
• Experience and understanding of project scheduling and capital project budget development and tracking with a proven track record of meeting schedules and budgets.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills, ability to pivot between in-depth detail to high level concepts, and experience with conflict resolution.
• Preferred but not required, professional licensure (PE/RA) in technical area of practice.
• Experience as consulting engineer/architect and/or as owner.
• Proven ability to learn and grow from experiences, open to new approaches and solutions, and willing to make quick decisions.
