Job summary

Greene, Tweed is seeking an experienced mechanical/composite design engineer to support customers and internal teams. You will work with 3D CAD, lead design analyses, and mentor junior staff while ensuring quality and compliance across projects.

Responsibilities include technical assistance, proposal generation, testing and validation, and collaboration with materials, production and quality teams. Travel 10–15% for customer or industry meetings is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's of Science in Engineering or appropriate technical field.
• 6-10 years in engineering or design environment.
• Experience using 3D CAD software; knowledge of FEA systems preferred.
• Strong computer literacy, especially in MS Office.
• Ability to work in cross-functional team environment.
• Experience in Polymer, Plastics, Elastomer design/manufacturing preferred.
• Lean 6 Sigma Principles, Yellow Belt preferred.
• Experience with material testing and material data analysis preferred.
• Previous customer-facing experience desired.
• Ability to travel 10-20% for customer or industry meetings.

Responsibilities

• Provides technical assistance to external customers, sales, manufacturing and quality, visiting customer sites when required, to ensure design needs are met on a timely basis.
• Generates, leads, and approves design proposals and communicates alignments with customer requirements.
• Instructs, directs, and checks the work of less experienced engineers or technicians; supports mentoring and training activities.
• Recommends material based on application criteria and reviews material specifications to align with customer requirements.
• Identifies opportunities for development or improvement of technology or capabilities.
