Job summary

Rheo Engineering in Peoria, IL is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer for New Product Development. You’ll own and validate designs for powder handling equipment, mentor peers, and drive design reviews and ECOs from concept to production.

You will lead CAD modeling in Inventor, apply FEA tools, and ensure design integrity across testing, validation, and documentation. The role blends hands-on design with technical leadership in a regulated manufacturing setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Significant professional mechanical design experience with ownership of complex design from concept through production release.
• Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor or equivalent 3D CAD.
• Experience with FEA software tools.
• Proven track record of producing and reviewing engineering drawings, models, and calculations.

Responsibilities

• Perform CAD modeling on moderate-to-complex assemblies and components.
• Lead design reviews and manage engineering change processes (ECR/ECO).
• Mentor Design Engineers and provide SME input.
• Ensure producibility and alignment with drawings, specs, and documentation.
• Coordinate with controls, fabrication, assembly, and manufacturing engineering to resolve issues.
• Support FATs, feasibility assessments, and system integration activities.
