Job summary

Applied Research Associates, Inc. (ARA) seeks a Senior Design Engineer for the Concept Development Group in Albuquerque, NM or Shalimar, FL, with remote options for the right candidate.

You will design, develop, test, and verify mechanical systems and weapon subsystems, mentor engineers, and collaborate with modeling, analysis, and manufacturing teams to move concepts from prototype through qualification. The ideal candidate has a strong background in mechanical design, weapons development, and

Qualifications

• U.S. Citizenship required due to sensitive information.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or related field.
• At least 10 years of related work experience.
• Proven CAD/drafting expertise and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Ability to produce product and structural requirements and designs.
• Ability to calculate dimensions, weight, and material requirements.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and analyze mechanical products and systems.
• Perform design evaluations on weapons systems.
• Conduct dimensional tolerance and functional analyses.
• Procure, assemble, and test advanced prototypes.
• Present designs at design reviews using Word/PowerPoint.
• Ensure designs satisfy requirements through verification and validation.
• Mentor junior engineers and cross-train other fields.
