Job summary

TruNorth Automation is seeking a Senior Design Engineer to lead the development of first-of-its-kind automated machinery from concept to integration.

You will mentor engineers, guide designs, and drive best practices while coordinating with customers to ensure project direction and quality milestones are met.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
• 6+ years of relevant experience in mechanical design of automation equipment.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proficient with SolidWorks or other 3D CAD system.
• Hold strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Experience leading & directing small teams.
• Competent in MS Office: excel, word, power point.
• Able to travel by air or car (estimated 5% max.)
• US citizen or authorization to work permanently for any Employer in the United States

Responsibilities

• Design and develop large sized custom automation machines independently.
• Provide leadership to a team-design effort, guiding a small team of designers through projects of all sizes and complexities
• Mentor lower-level engineers and help develop the design skills of other engineers in the company
• Assist in the continuous improvement of best modeling practices, project organization, standardization, and machine design
• Communicate independently with customers in a professional and effective way. Have the skillset to convince customer team of project direction and design choices
• Demonstrate the ability to consistently deliver projects that meet both timeline & quality objectives
• Provide leadership within the organization and entire design group
