About the role:

We're seeking a Senior Design Engineer to bridge the gap between design and engineering at Fold with a strong emphasis on craft, animation and component quality. In this role, you'll lead the implementation of our design system, architect front-end solutions, and help us build a more consistent, accessible and delightful experience for our users. You'll be instrumental in building the UI foundation that allows us to shape the future of digital currency adoption and delivers delight in everyday interaction.

What you'll do:

• Lead the technical implementation and evolution of our design system
• Architect and build complex reusable UI components, animations and micro-interactions that balance aesthetics with technical performance
• Prototype and experiment with new interaction models that push our UX forward
• Collaborate closely with product designers to bring designs to life with pixel-perfect precision
• Mentor engineers on design principles and implementation techniques
• Contribute to improving our design-to-code workflows and internal tools
• Champion accessible, responsive, and performant user interfaces

Required Skills and Experience:

• 8+ years of experience in front-end development with a strong design sensibility
• Experience with design systems and associated tooling (ex: StoryBook)
• Expert-level knowledge of React, React Native and Typescript
• A passion for polished, high-quality UI and consistent user experience
• Strong understanding of design systems and component-based architecture
• Experience implementing complex UI animations and interactions
• Proven ability to translate design concepts into production-ready code
• Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with both design and engineering teams
• Experience with accessibility standards and inclusive design principles

Additional Qualifications:

• Active Fold user or a strong interest in Bitcoin
• Experience building design tools or developer tools
• Background in motion design, prototyping tools or working with AI
• Open-source contributions to design systems or UI libraries
